Today Apple held their Education Event at a school in Chicago where they were expected to announce new iPads, a new version of Apple Pencil an Apple Books redesign, new classwork app and ClassKit developer framework, AirPower, new AirPods charging case, iOS 11.3 and a couple of things that were far fetched however a possibility which is an updated MacBook Air, new blush gold iPhone X or the release of the iPhone SE 2 and possibly even Airpower.

Apple started the event by taking about all the different marches across the nation and students using voices to bring about change, Apple also stated that they’ve been involved in education for 40 years and also that their working to bring STEM to everyone of all backgrounds.

The first major announcement was the new 9.7 inch iPad which Apple said was a magical sheet of glass that can become anything and could control robots via augmented reality and they also stated that they produce apps that no other platform can can compare with Apple having 200,00 dedicated education applications.

Apple stated that the 9.7″ iPad is the most popular size that they sell and that they were happy to announce that the new 9.7″ iPad now supports the Apple Pencil, not only does it now support the Apple Pencil but Apple announced all new versions of iWork, Pages, Numbers and Keynote that now natively support the Apple Pencil and they also will be adding a new feature called “Smart Annotation” which is now a layer but will be anchored to elements which has never been done before.

Apple also announced that you can now create digital books right in Pages for iPad or Mac and now iWork is free.

The new sixth generation 9.7″ iPad has a A10 Fusion chip, 8MP Camera, Touch ID, FaceTime Camera, 10 hours battery life and once again Apple Pencil support, the sixth generation iPad is now more powerful than many PCs and almost all Chromebooks, Apple also stated that they will be bringing augmented reality apps to the classroom with ARKit apps.

iCloud storage for schools has now seen a increase when it comes to free storage from the previous 5GB plan to 200GB.

The new 9.7 inch iPad is available starting today in Silver, the new Gold color Apple introduced with the iPhone 8/8 Plus and Space Gray with a price tag of $329 for average citizens and $299 for Students.

Logitech-Crayon

Next up Logitech announced a new cheaper version of the Apple Pencil aimed more for students called the Logitech Crayon for $49 high looks like a cross between an Apple Pencil and a crayon.

Apple then announced Classroom for Mac which will allow Teachers on a Mac to guide students on a iPad along with a new Schoolwork app which will be coming in June this new style of app deployment will keep the students data private.

Next ups was “Everyone Can Create” which is the focus of teaching code in the classroom with Swift Playgrounds that helps allow anyone to code.

All and all it was a important day for Apple and Teachers around the world we got new 9.7 inch education based iPads with Apple Pencil support, iWork, Clips and Garage Band updates along with the “Everyone Can Code/Create agenda.

Some of the things we didn’t see was AirPower which is Apple’s new wireless charging mat that was said to debut at todays event we also didn’t see any new color refresh for the iPhone X or the announcement of either the iPhone SE 2 or the new MacBook Air.

Apple-Space-Gray-Keyboard-Mouse-Trackpad-Now-Available

On a related note Apple released the Space Gray Keyboard, Space Gray Magic Mouse and Space Gray Track Pad to the public which previously was only available if you purchased an iMac Pro.
