iPhone X Plus And The Rest Of The 2018 iPhone Lineup
Apple is set to launch 3 new iPhones in September 2018 and here’s what we know so far…
Apple released their Tenth Anniversary iPhone (iPhone X) last September and since then sales have been the best Apple has ever seen for any past iPhone. Apple chose to go with a completely new design and we here at AppleUnboxed are very impressed with it.
If the rumor mill is true we’ll be seeing 3 new iPhones this year and Apple will be eliminating the home button and Touch ID for good. I’m personally not a huge fan of Touch ID and I’ve gotten used to using the iPhone X with no home button.
Apple’s said to release a 5.8″ iPhone a 6.1″ LCD (Budget) iPhone and a 6.5″ iPhone X Plus all with Face ID.
We got our hands on the 6.5″ iPhone X Plus physical 3-D mock-up courtesy of Benjamin Geskin to get a better feel for the size and how it compares in terms of size to the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and even compared to the Note 8 which we’ve embedded down below.
The best way to describe the size of the biggest model set to be released the 6.5″ iPhone X Plus is if you were to pick up a iPhone 7 Plus or iPhone 8 Plus and imagine it with no forehead or chin (top or bottom) bezel with a edge to edge screen however we’ll still still the notch but is should be smaller so it’ll technically feel like your holding the iPhone 8 Plus in terms of size but will all screen similar to how the iPhone X feels like the size of the iPhone 8 in the hand but appears bigger because it’s all screen.
The 6.1″ LCD iPhone is said to be somewhat of a budget iPhone shipping with lower grade components such as a LCD display with an overall lower pixel density than the other two models, an aluminum frame instead of stainless steal, a single rear camera lens, no 3D Touch and possibly no wireless charging capabilities however we’ve also heard Apple could be choosing to keep the LCD display to implement a 120hz Pro Motion display which is currently only available with a LCD display panel and would offer a reason to upgrade from the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus and would give Apple the opportunity to sell the device for $700 to $800 which is more in line with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
The 5.8″ iPhone is said to be a second generation version of the iPhone X with the same 5.8″ OLED display with the 6.5″ being just a bigger version of the 5.8″ model with a resolution of 2688 x 1242 with both having a dual lens camera system and may include 4GB or RAM with the larger iPhone X Plus to offer a bigger battery and also include a dual SIM card slot for easier carrier switching along with a new gold color option.
In addition to the Face ID and True Depth camera system all three new iPhones are likely to include an Apple A12 processor and improved LTE chips from Qualcomm and Intel that will support faster LTE speeds.
With the launch of the second generation 5.8″ iPhone X and larger 6.5″ iPhone X Plus rumors suggest Apple will discontinue the the current iPhone X rather than lowering the price and this wouldn’t be the first time as Apple did the same thing with the iPhone 5 when the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c launched in 2013.
